Galatasaray eye Bruno Fernandes as United close in on £10m Louis Page deal
Manchester United have rejected Galatasaray's approach for captain Bruno Fernandes, insisting he is not for sale, while the club edges closer to a £10m deal for Leicester City teenager Louis Page.
Manchester United have rebuffed interest from Galatasaray in captain Bruno Fernandes, with the club making clear the Portuguese midfielder is untouchable despite the Turkish side assembling a lucrative offer, according to The Independent.
Galatasaray are reportedly targeting Fernandes as part of an effort to match the high-profile summer business of rivals Fenerbahce and Besiktas. The 31-year-old playmaker is in the final year of his contract at Old Trafford, but United hold a one-year extension option and have no intention of selling on the eve of the new Premier League season. Fernandes finished last season with a record-breaking assist tally that helped secure United’s return to the Champions League.
On the incomings front, United are closing in on a deal for Leicester City midfielder Louis Page. Reports suggest the club are near to agreeing a fee of £10 million plus add-ons for the 18-year-old, which would make him their fourth summer signing after Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos, and goalkeeper Karl Darlow.
United open their Premier League campaign away at newly-promoted Hull City on Saturday, 22 August, with Tielemans and Santos both expected to make their competitive debuts at the MKM Stadium.
Elsewhere in United’s transfer activity, Monaco have reportedly raised their asking price for Senegal international Lamine Camara to over £51.2 million, up from an earlier valuation of around £43 million. The Ligue 1 club are reluctant to sell the 21-year-old midfielder, making any potential pursuit a difficult one on both price and availability.
United are also being linked with Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, though they face competition from Chelsea for the England international. Three defensive targets — Brighton’s Jack Hinshelwood, Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall, and Bayern Munich centre-back Kim Min-jae — have been mentioned in reports, though moves for all three are considered unlikely at this stage.
Meanwhile, former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has publicly questioned United’s decision to sign Tielemans, arguing the club should have pursued Mateus Fernandes instead. The Southampton midfielder had been a United target earlier in the summer before Tottenham Hotspur agreed a deal to sell him to West Ham United at a fee United were unwilling to match.
