Bouaddi leaves Lille for Manchester City for €80 million
Moroccan international midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi is set to join Manchester City from LOSC for approximately €80 million, according to transfer specialists. His arrival accelerates after City's 3-0 defeat to Arsenal in the Community Shield.
Ayyoub Bouaddi will leave LOSC for Manchester City this summer for an estimated €80 million. According to transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano, the transfer of the Moroccan international midfielder is in its final stages and should be completed very quickly.
Two factors have accelerated the deal. Rodri’s departure to FC Barcelona leaves a considerable void in Manchester’s midfield, and the club is looking to fill it without delay. At the same time, the 3-0 defeat suffered against Arsenal in the Community Shield highlighted the shortcomings of Manchester City’s midfield, where Matteo Kovacic and new signing Elliot Anderson both struggled.
Bouaddi, who recently played in the World Cup with Morocco, had cast doubt on a possible contract extension at Lille. The decision is now made: the Moroccan international is about to join the Premier League in this summer’s transfer window.
His arrival is part of a midfield rebuild at Manchester City, deprived of its metronome since the departure of the 2024 Ballon d’Or winner. Bouaddi will not be alone in filling this void, but his recruitment represents the club’s first concrete response to this urgency.
