Michele Di Gregorio has been offered to Olympique de Marseille, according to information from Fabrizio Romano published on Monday. The Juventus Turin goalkeeper is being pushed toward the exit by his club, which is looking to loan him out before the end of the summer transfer window.

OM finds itself short-handed in goal following Geronimo Rulli’s transfer to Manchester City last week. The Marseille club now has only three goalkeepers — Jeffrey de Lange, Théo Vermot and Jelle Van Neck — to tackle a season that includes a European campaign.

In Turin, Di Gregorio’s departure is explained by the imminent arrival of Guglielmo Vicario. Juventus has just reached an agreement with Tottenham to sign the 29-year-old goalkeeper on loan with a non-mandatory purchase option of 10 million euros. His medical was scheduled for Monday.

Di Gregorio, also 29 years old, had a difficult season with Juventus, who finished sixth in Serie A and will miss next season’s Ligue des Champions. A loan to Marseille would give him playing time in European competition, while OM could strengthen its key position at minimal cost — a determining factor for a club that has yet to officially sign any recruits in this summer transfer window.

Bruno Genesio, who must work with a reduced squad between the posts, sees this experienced profile as an immediate solution. It remains to be seen whether formal discussions will take place between the two clubs.
