OM Officially Announces Departure of Alessandro Antonello, General Manager for One Year
Olympique de Marseille announced Thursday evening the resignation of Alessandro Antonello, general manager of the club since July 2025. The Italian, recruited from Inter Milan, is leaving the club amid a major restructuring of its management.
Olympique de Marseille officially announced Thursday evening the departure of Alessandro Antonello, who is stepping down as general manager after just one year at the club.
In a statement, the Marseille club indicated that Antonello “brought his experience to the service of Olympique de Marseille in order to initiate several major projects, notably in terms of revenue development and stadium enhancement”. The statement specifies that “the projects he helped launch will be continued and strengthened as part of the roadmap defined by the new management”.
Arriving in July 2025 from Inter Milan, the Italian had been recruited in the momentum driven by Pablo Longoria and Medhi Benatia, then president and sporting director of the club. His departure comes as these two figures have themselves left their positions, making way for new management currently being installed.
This movement in the management structure illustrates the scope of the overhaul underway at OM, which is not limited to the professional squad alone. Less than two weeks before the close of the summer transfer window, the Marseille club is simultaneously restructuring its squad and its management.
