Cristian Perez flattens Kyle Nelson in 27 seconds on stunning UFC debut
Cristian Perez wasted no time announcing himself at UFC Edmonton, stopping veteran Kyle Nelson with a ferocious combination just 27 seconds into the first round of his promotional debut.
Cristian Perez announced his UFC arrival in emphatic fashion at UFC Edmonton, stopping Canadian veteran Kyle Nelson with a blistering combination just 27 seconds into the opening round — one of the fastest finishes on the card.
The bout began with Perez attempting an Imanari roll in the opening exchanges, a move that failed to catch Nelson off guard. The veteran responded with a right hand that briefly rocked Perez and left him off balance. It proved a costly mistake. Rather than retreat, Perez surged forward throwing heavy leather, connecting with a combination that sent Nelson to the canvas. A flurry of hammerfists followed, and the referee waved it off.
Perez, now 16-2, had entered the night carrying considerable hype after being signed off Dana White’s Contender Series in August. He delivered on it, with the finish marking his 13th victory by knockout or submission across his professional career.
For Nelson, the defeat continues a difficult run of form. The 17-8-1 record now includes a second consecutive loss by KO/TKO, with the Canadian having been finished in three of his last four fights.
