All 26 fighters make weight as Malott and Buckley set for UFC Edmonton headliner
Mike Malott and Joaquin Buckley both came in at 170.5 pounds to confirm their welterweight main event at UFC Edmonton on Saturday. All 26 fighters on the card successfully made weight, despite brief scares from Kyle Daukaus and Melissa Croden.
All 26 fighters on the UFC Edmonton card made weight at Friday’s official morning weigh-ins, clearing the way for a full slate headlined by welterweights Mike Malott and Joaquin Buckley. Both men came in at 170.5 pounds, confirming their bout at Rogers Place in Edmonton on Saturday.
Canada’s Malott enters on a three-fight winning streak, most recently stopping former title challenger Gilbert Burns by knockout. A fourth consecutive victory would further cement his status as a welterweight contender. Buckley, meanwhile, arrives needing a turnaround after back-to-back losses have stalled his momentum in the division.
The co-main event carries its own significant stakes. Top-10 flyweights Erin Blanchfield and Jasmine Jasudavicius meet with a potential title shot reported to be on the line. Blanchfield weighed in at exactly 125 pounds, while Jasudavicius came in at 124.5 pounds — a half-pound under championship weight.
The weigh-in session was not without drama. Kyle Daukaus and Melissa Croden both required second attempts, stripping down and stepping behind a privacy box during the second hour of the weigh-in window. Both ultimately made weight. Croden’s situation was complicated further by a significant weight discrepancy with opponent Chelsea Chandler, who came in at 135.5 pounds against Croden’s 186 — a gap that raises questions about the bout’s status heading into fight night.
Elsewhere on the main card, lightweight Kyle Nelson faces Cristian Perez, Marc-Andre Barriault meets Daukaus at middleweight, and featherweight Mandel Nallo takes on Nate Landwehr. The preliminary card features a heavyweight clash between Tanner Boser (247.5) and Jhonata Diniz (251.5), among several other bouts.
