Cadillac launches $222,500 Perez special-edition Escalade-V ahead of his 300th F1 start
Cadillac has released a limited-edition Escalade-V honouring Sergio Perez, priced at around $222,500 in Mexico. Just 11 units will be built — matching his race number — as the Red Bull driver prepares for his milestone 300th grand prix at his home race in Mexico City.
Cadillac has unveiled a limited-run Escalade-V bearing Sergio Perez’s name ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, where the Red Bull driver will make his 300th Formula 1 start. Priced at 4,099,000 pesos — approximately $222,500 — only 11 examples will be produced, a figure chosen to reflect Perez’s race number.
Named the Escalade-V Checo Perez Edition, the SUV is now on sale at dealerships across Mexico. The asking price sits roughly 250,000 pesos above the standard Escalade-V currently available in the country.
The changes over the base car are largely cosmetic. Cadillac and V-Series badges are finished in black, while a monochrome Cadillac logo mirrors the colour scheme of the team’s MAC-26 F1 car. Illuminated grille and door handles add visual drama, and lifting the bonnet reveals a carbon fibre engine cover. The wheels are 24-inch Satin Graphite units.
Inside, sports pedals and monochrome trim carry the same aesthetic thread. Two numbered plaques — one on the B-pillar, one on the centre console — identify which of the 11 cars a buyer has purchased, with Perez’s signature alongside for good measure.
Mechanically, nothing has changed. The supercharged 6.2-litre V8 still produces 682 horsepower and 653 lb-ft of torque, channelled through a 10-speed automatic gearbox to all four wheels. The 0-60mph sprint takes 4.4 seconds.
The launch carries extra weight given Perez’s recent comments about his future in the sport. Speaking to Mexican broadcaster Televisa, the 36-year-old suggested his F1 career is approaching its end, noting that Cadillac’s own F1 project “requires more time than I initially thought.”
“I think giving a specific number [of years] is difficult, but it won’t be much longer,” Perez said. “What really holds me back [from continuing] is my kids.”
He added: “I want to finish my time in Formula 1 on a high note, and all I can say is that we will know when [I retire] soon.”
The Mexico City Grand Prix follows this weekend’s round in Austin, giving Perez back-to-back races — one of them on home soil — as speculation over his future continues to build.
