Zaïre-Emery absent from PSG medical report, available for Strasbourg
Substituted in the 84th minute during PSG's 4-2 Champions League victory at Manchester City on Wednesday, Warren Zaïre-Emery does not appear in the medical update released Friday by the club. The 20-year-old midfielder is available for Saturday's trip to Strasbourg.
Warren Zaïre-Emery is not injured. Paris Saint-Germain released its medical report Friday, and the 20-year-old midfielder does not appear on it, easing concerns raised by his early substitution Wednesday evening at the Etihad Stadium.
The French international left the pitch in the 84th minute during PSG’s 4-2 victory over Manchester City in the Ligue des Champions, replaced by Lucas Beraldo after feeling discomfort. His performance had nonetheless been among the most notable of the evening before this incident.
Zaïre-Emery is therefore available for PSG’s trip to Strasbourg on Saturday (17:15), as part of Matchday 7 of Ligue 1. His inclusion in the squad is all the more likely given that Luis Enrique took care to emphasize his importance during the pre-match press conference. « He is an undisputed starter, a fundamental player, » said the Spanish coach. « The problem is that I can only field eleven players in every match. You have to choose. Warren has always been a starter since we’ve been here. »
This scare comes a few weeks after a previous alert: on September 20, Zaïre-Emery suffered a slight left thigh injury against Marseille, which forced him to withdraw from the France national team gathering. This time, the verdict is reassuring.
