Nottingham Forest are sweating over the fitness of Morgan Gibbs-White ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Arsenal at the City Ground, with the England international yet to train all week after picking up a calf injury in last weekend’s defeat at Crystal Palace.

Manager Oliver Glasner confirmed Gibbs-White completed only an individual rehabilitation session on Friday and is expected to join the squad for a light session on Saturday before a final fitness call is made. “Morgan Gibbs-White is a doubt, he couldn’t train the entire week with us,” Glasner said. “But it looks like he can join tomorrow’s session. He had an individual session today with our rehab coaches, and he suffered a minor muscle injury at Palace. Then we have to see how he reacts today and how he deals with tomorrow’s session, and then how we take the final decision.”

Forest will also monitor defender Nikola Milenkovic, who returned to training on Friday after missing several weeks with a bone bruise. “Milenkovic trained for the first time today,” Glasner said. “Let’s see now how he reacts. He could be in the matchday squad, but let’s see, because he’s now out for several weeks.”

The injury concerns arrive at a difficult moment for Forest, who head into the fixture on the back of consecutive Premier League defeats. Frank Lampard’s Coventry claimed their first win of the season at Forest’s expense before the international break, compounding the pressure on Glasner, who has overseen just one league victory since taking charge.

Arsenal, by contrast, appear to have recovered from their 3-0 defeat at Brighton in mid-September, following it up with wins over Leeds and Lille to arrive at the City Ground in improved form.
