RC Lens ended Dino Toppmöller’s tenure on Tuesday, sacking the manager appointed last summer after just six matches at the helm of the Sang et Or. His assistant Yannick Cahuzac takes over with immediate effect.

In its official statement, the Artois club explained that structural disagreements were behind the split: « After numerous discussions on squad matters, staff functioning and organization, Racing informed its manager of its desire to reshape it. Since these structural changes could not be shared by Dino Toppmöller, the club, acting responsibly, decided to end his mission, as well as that of his two assistants. »

The German coach, who arrived in the North at the start of the season, will not have had time to settle on the Lens bench. His record in six matches apparently did not convince the board, which preferred to act quickly rather than let the situation deteriorate.

Yannick Cahuzac, until now an assistant within the staff, inherits the role in an emergency. He will manage RC Lens starting this Saturday in the away trip to Monaco, for Matchday 5 of Ligue 1.
