Strasbourg on verge of selling Moreira to AC Milan for €53 million
Diego Moreira is set to join AC Milan for €53 million plus up to €10 million in bonuses. Purchased from Chelsea for €8.5 million last summer, the 22-year-old Belgian winger would become Strasbourg's record transfer sale.
Diego Moreira is on the verge of leaving Strasbourg for AC Milan for €53 million, to which up to €10 million in bonuses will be added, according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna. The transfer is expected to be confirmed imminently.
Acquired from Chelsea for just €8.5 million during the summer 2024 transfer window, the 22-year-old Belgian international would generate a profit of at least €44.5 million for the Alsatian club. He would thus become the most lucrative sale in the history of Racing Club de Strasbourg, ahead of Valentin Barco (€40 million to Chelsea) and Dilane Bakwa (€35 million to Nottingham Forest).
This deal illustrates the refined economic model developed by Strasbourg since its integration into Todd Boehly’s BlueCo consortium in 2022. The club has since developed recognized expertise in identifying and reselling talent: Barco, Bakwa, Habib Diarra and Emanuel Emegha had been recruited for approximately €33 million in total before being sold for more than €130 million.
With Moreira, Strasbourg’s management is reaching a new level. A versatile winger capable of playing on both flanks, the player trained at Benfica will have spent just one season in Ligue 1 before attracting the attention of one of Europe’s most decorated clubs. The €53 million fee now sets an unprecedented benchmark for RCSA, confirming its status as a hub for young talent in France.
