Sesko faces two more months out, deepening Manchester United's injury crisis under Carrick
Benjamin Sesko is not expected to return until at least January after a persistent shin problem, leaving interim manager Michael Carrick without one of his most effective attacking options at Old Trafford.
Benjamin Sesko will miss at least two more months of action for Manchester United, with the Slovenian striker’s ongoing shin injury keeping him sidelined until January at the earliest — a significant setback for interim manager Michael Carrick as he battles to secure his position at Old Trafford.
Sesko has barely featured this season, and his last appearance came in United’s Carabao Cup third-round defeat to Brighton in mid-September — a game in which he made only his second start of the campaign. The injury stems from a collision with the advertising boards during United’s 3-2 victory over Liverpool, a match in which Sesko scored, and he has not recovered since.
According to The Athletic, Manchester United’s medical team has been investigating the best course of treatment for the 21-year-old, underlining the seriousness with which the club is approaching his rehabilitation.
The timing is particularly damaging for Carrick. During his interim spell, Sesko has been one of United’s more reliable attacking outlets, frequently making an impact from the bench and providing goals when the team needed them most. His absence removes a key weapon from Carrick’s limited arsenal at a time when results are under intense scrutiny.
United have been beset by injury problems throughout the season, and Sesko’s extended spell on the sidelines only compounds the difficulties facing a squad already stretched thin. With no return date confirmed beyond the broad January target, Carrick will need to find alternative solutions in attack for the weeks ahead.
