PSG target Ibrahim Maza to compensate for Kvaratskhelia injury
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg, Paris Saint-Germain has shown concrete interest in Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Ibrahim Maza during the winter transfer window. However, the German club intends to extend his contract and resist any offers.
Paris Saint-Germain has placed Ibrahim Maza on its shortlist for the winter transfer window, revealed Wednesday by Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg. PSG’s interest is directly linked to the serious injury suffered by Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his knee against Barcelona, pushing the club to strengthen offensively this winter.
“Paris Saint-Germain shows concrete interest in Ibrahim Maza for the winter transfer window, with the player’s camp being aware of this interest. He is among the candidates on their shortlist,” Plettenberg specified on X.
The task promises to be complex for PSG’s management, however. Bayer Leverkusen has no intention of letting its player leave: the Rhineland club is working on a contract extension beyond 2030, accompanied by a salary increase, and considers Maza a central element of its project. Competition further complicates the matter, with Manchester City and Arsenal also among the interested clubs.
At 20 years old, the attacking midfielder born in Berlin has established himself as one of the revelations of the current season. In ten appearances across all competitions, he has scored three goals and provided three assists. An Algerian international with 24 caps and three goals, Maza is valued at 50 million euros by Transfermarkt.
