Saliba returns to Arsenal training after months out with back injury
Absent since France's World Cup 2026 semi-final loss to Spain, William Saliba resumed collective training with Arsenal on Tuesday, November 3, though his match return remains to be determined.
William Saliba returned to Arsenal’s training pitches on Tuesday, November 3, ending a lengthy absence due to a back injury sustained at the 2026 World Cup. The centre-back had not played since France’s semi-final defeat to Spain (0-2).
The London club announced the news on social media, posting a photo of the player’s arrival at the training centre with the message: “Look who’s back.” Videos released show Saliba performing light exercises — tennis-ball drills, toro — a sign that his reintegration into the squad remains gradual.
During his unavailability, Ezri Konsa stepped in alongside Gabriel at centre-back for the Gunners. The England international impressed, notably in the victory at Liverpool this weekend (0-1, Premier League matchday 9).
Despite this encouraging return, Saliba will not travel to Prague on Wednesday for the Ligue des Champions match against Slavia. His call-up for France’s next Ligue des Nations gathering, announced Friday by Zinédine Zidane, also appears uncertain.
