Arsenal linked with Hull City's Mohamed Belloumi in potential January transfer move
Arsenal are reportedly monitoring Hull City winger Mohamed Belloumi, 24, who has impressed in the Championship this season and recently made his international debut for Algeria. The Gunners are said to be seeking attacking reinforcements in January.
Arsenal have been linked with Hull City winger Mohamed Belloumi as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his attacking options in the January transfer window, according to a report from Maghreb Foot relayed by Sport Witness.
Belloumi, 24, has been one of the standout performers in Hull’s surprisingly solid start to the Championship season. Sergej Jakirovic’s side have lost just twice in their opening nine games, sitting comfortably in mid-table after many predicted them to struggle following their play-off promotion at Wembley. Belloumi has led the scoring charts for the club and recently made his senior international debut for Algeria, netting twice in his first three caps for the Fennecs.
The report suggests Belloumi “couldn’t refuse an offer” from Arsenal, though no formal bid has been made. His Transfermarkt valuation currently stands at €18 million.
Arteta’s interest in the forward areas has been sharpened by a difficult run in cup competition, with defeats to Brighton and Fleetwood Town in the League Cup exposing a lack of depth in attack. Belloumi’s ability to operate on both flanks makes him a versatile option, and he fits the high-intensity profile Arteta typically demands from his wide players.
Arsenal’s current right-wing options include Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke, and 16-year-old Max Dowman. With Madueke capable of playing on the left, Belloumi could potentially serve as cover for Saka on the right, or offer an alternative on the opposite flank.
Belloumi is not the only wide player on Arsenal’s radar. RB Leipzig’s Antonio Nusa has also been linked with a move to north London in recent weeks, and FourFourTwo reports that the club are monitoring several attackers ahead of both the January window and next summer.
Arsenal currently sit top of the Premier League after a win at Anfield, and face Hull City at the Emirates this weekend — a fixture that may give Arteta and his staff a closer look at the player they are reportedly considering.
