Rothen and Makelele join DAZN and Disney+ to cover La Liga from 2026
DAZN and Disney+ have secured La Liga broadcasting rights for three seasons starting 2026-2027, ending fourteen years of coverage on beIN Sports. Jérôme Rothen and Benoît Trémoulinas will commentate the main fixtures, while Claude Makelele and Samuel Umtiti will serve as sideline reporters.
The agreement covers three seasons, through 2028-2029.
According to L’Équipe, Jérôme Rothen and Benoît Trémoulinas will handle commentary for the main fixtures. They will be joined by journalists Adrien Courouble, Éric Huet and Hamza Rahmani to cover all ten matches of each matchday.
Claude Makelele and Samuel Umtiti will take charge of sideline reporting: post-match interviews and conversations with major figures in La Liga throughout the season. The two former French internationals will thus add an analytical dimension to the editorial coverage.
Alongside this new role, Rothen continues his work at RMC. His daily show “Rothen s’enflamme”, suspended since the end of the 2026 World Cup, resumes Monday from 6 p.m. The former left winger began his media career as early as 2010, before even ending his playing career, before joining RMC in 2016.
