FC Barcelona announced it would file a complaint with UEFA against Paris Saint-Germain following a controversial tifo displayed by PSG supporters before kick-off in their Champions League encounter on Tuesday evening at Parc des Princes. PSG won 4-2, inflicting Barcelona’s first defeat of the season in the competition.

The visual in question depicted a masked figure wielding a chainsaw to slash the Blaugrana crest, accompanied by the caption “Massacre à la parisienne” — a direct reference to the horror films The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Halloween. For Barcelona’s management, this display goes beyond the scope of sporting rivalry and constitutes an apology for violence.

The reaction was immediate in Spain. On Cadena SER, journalist Dani Garrido demanded answers: “Barcelona must demand an investigation to understand what happened and know who authorized this tifo. It’s unbearable. It’s deplorable and it’s a clear apology for violence.” On the El Chiringuito set, Jota Jordi repeated emphatically: “It’s a disgrace!” while Quim Domènech argued that “red lines” had been crossed in the escalation between the two clubs. Josep Pedrerol, for his part, pointed to “the concerning power of PSG ultras in the stands.”

Immediately after the match, Barcelona’s management officially confirmed its intention to lodge a complaint with UEFA, turning this incident into far more than a fleeting media controversy. The European body will now have to rule on the nature of the tifo and any potential responsibilities of the Paris club.
