Mbappé receives fake Ballon d'Or in Djadel Show under name 'Mobutu'
In the 'Djadel Show', comedian Ilyes Djadel staged a fictional Ballon d'Or ceremony before a packed crowd at the Dôme de Paris, presenting the trophy to a visibly amused and embarrassed Kylian Mbappé.
Kylian Mbappé received a Ballon d’Or, but not the one he’s waiting for: in the ‘Djadel Show’, comedian Ilyes Djadel orchestrated a fictional ceremony for the prestigious trophy before several hundred spectators at the Dôme de Paris, notably in the presence of Aurélien Tchouaméni.
The sequence deliberately plays on one of the major gaps in the France captain’s trophy cabinet. “We know you’ve won a lot of things in your life, Kylian. But you’re missing one little thing. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Ballon d’Or ceremony,” Djadel said, before building suspense. “Trust me, you’re going to love this, it’s now!” he continued, maintaining the anticipation of a visibly amused but slightly embarrassed Mbappé.
The punchline came with the name of the winner announced: “The 2026 Ballon d’Or is awarded to Mobutu Mbappé.” The nickname, which circulates on social media and has sometimes been used internally by teammates in the France squad, refers to accusations of authoritarianism sometimes directed at the Real Madrid player.
The spicy detail: the show is co-produced by Zebra Valley, the production company founded by Mbappé himself, which gives the sequence a dimension of assumed self-mockery. The real Ballon d’Or ceremony is expected next Monday in London.
