Rashford backs Carragher's plea to stop obsessing over his Man United future
Marcus Rashford has publicly sided with Jamie Carragher after the former Liverpool defender snapped at Gary Neville for repeatedly raising the United forward's name on their Stick to Football podcast. Rashford reposted the clip on X, saying he just wants to play football.
Marcus Rashford has thrown his support behind Jamie Carragher after the former Liverpool defender lost patience with Gary Neville’s repeated questions about the Manchester United forward’s future on their Stick to Football podcast.
Neville prompted Carragher’s exasperated outburst by raising Rashford’s name yet again during a recent episode. “Oh *****. Can we do a podcast without mentioning Rashford? Stop it! Oh my god,” Carragher fired back, drawing a comparison to the similarly relentless coverage of Trent Alexander-Arnold’s move to Real Madrid. “He’s just a good player for Man United!”
When Neville attempted to justify the question — noting that Rashford had returned to United following his loan spell at Barcelona — Carragher was unmoved, repeating his disbelief at the continued fixation.
Rashford appeared to agree entirely. He reposted the clip on X with a pointed message directed at the former Liverpool captain: “Thanks, Jamie. It would be great to be able to get my head down and play football without my name being mentioned every day,” accompanied by a crying emoji.
The 27-year-old spent last season on loan at Barcelona after falling out of favour under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford. Despite widespread speculation about a permanent departure, Rashford is currently expected to remain at Manchester United beyond this summer.
