Manchester City is seriously interested in Manu Koné, Roma midfielder and France international, according to reports circulating as the summer transfer window draws to a close. The Manchester club would be prepared to spend around €60 million to secure the services of the former Toulouse player, a fee comparable to what they received when Tijjani Reijnders departed.

The Skyblues have several gaps to fill in midfield. Rodri has officially joined Barcelona, and Tijjani Reijnders has moved to Saudi Arabia. To address these departures, City is already working on bringing in Lille’s Ayyoub Bouaddi, which appears to be progressing well, and recently recruited Elliot Anderson for €135 million. Koné would represent an additional reinforcement in midfield.

At 23 years old, Manu Koné has spent two seasons in Serie A following his time at Toulouse. His profile has also been linked with Manchester United — who ultimately recruited Carlos Baleba — as well as Chelsea, where Enzo Fernandez’s future remains uncertain. The Premier League therefore appears to be a serious destination for the French international.

On the international stage, Koné has established himself as an important player for France since his first call-up by Didier Deschamps in 2024. During the recent World Cup, he was in direct competition with Aurélien Tchouaméni for a starting midfield place. A successful transfer to City would strengthen his position in the France squad, at a time when Zinédine Zidane takes over as national team manager.
