Liverpool in early Mbappe talks as Real Madrid star weighs Premier League move for 2027
Spanish journalist Francois Gallardo claims Liverpool have already contacted Kylian Mbappe's representative Fayza Lamari, with the Real Madrid forward reportedly prioritising a move to Anfield over other Premier League suitors in the summer of 2027.
Liverpool have held preliminary talks with Kylian Mbappe’s camp over a potential move to Anfield, according to Spanish journalist Francois Gallardo, who claims the Real Madrid forward has already identified the Merseyside club as his preferred Premier League destination.
Gallardo, speaking to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, stated that “several Premier League teams are interested in Kylian Mbappe, but the player’s priority is Liverpool,” adding that contact has already been made with Mbappe’s mother and representative, Fayza Lamari, “in recent weeks.”
The journalist went further on social media, writing: “He has made the decision to leave the club in the summer of 2027, and Real Madrid is not going to stand in his way. His next destination is in the Premier League. And if not, prove me wrong.”
Mbappe joined Real Madrid two years ago but has yet to win a major trophy at the Bernabeu. His arrival has disrupted the balance of Carlo Ancelotti’s attack, with Vinicius Jr. widely considered to have dropped below his previous levels playing alongside the Frenchman, Jude Bellingham pushed into a deeper role, and Rodrygo losing his place through a combination of injury and form. Madrid subsequently signed left-winger Yan Diomande in the summer transfer window.
Defensa Central reported that Real Madrid have no intention of selling Mbappe and that any deal would require “extraordinary figures,” with Gallardo placing a potential fee in the region of €200–250 million — in line with Transfermarkt’s current valuation of €200m for the forward.
Despite the reported interest, a move to Liverpool would carry significant complications. The club is already well-stocked with left-sided attackers, with Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha and Victor Munoz among those who operate on that flank. Players including Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike, Bradley Barcola and Florian Wirtz have also been linked with or are already at clubs competing for similar positions, raising questions about where Mbappe would fit in Arne Slot’s system.
Mbappe is set to attend next week’s Ballon d’Or ceremony in London, where he is among the candidates for the award, though he has not yet lifted silverware since leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
