Fernandes hat-trick fires Manchester United to 5-2 rout of Ipswich at Old Trafford

Bruno Fernandes scored a hat-trick as Manchester United beat Ipswich Town 5-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday, responding emphatically to their defeat against Hull City the previous week. I think we were in control of the game, even if we conceded the goal. In the second half we were very, very good.”

Fernandes was careful to frame the victory in its proper context, noting that no result could compensate for the Hull defeat. “You can’t get six points in a game,” he said, but added that the performance was exactly what the team needed to deliver in front of their own supporters.

On completing his third hat-trick for the club, Fernandes said: “It’s the best feeling in football, doing a hat-trick at home with our fans — it’s something amazing that I’m very proud of. But the main thing is that I need to score goals to help the team to win games. Today, I did that and I hope I can do much more and help my teammates score goals too.”
