Jesús de Miguel Dies at 30 After Brutal Collision in Segunda División
CD Tenerife striker Jesús de Miguel died on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, the day after a violent collision with FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during a Spanish second-division match. He was 30 years old.
Jesús de Miguel, striker for CD Tenerife, died on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at the age of 30, from injuries sustained the previous day during a Segunda División match against FC Andorra. Spanish football is in mourning.
The tragedy occurred during added time of a match that was ending 2-2. Released into space, the Madrid native found himself alone in front of goal when FC Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono, who had come far out of his area, collided with him head-on in the center circle. The goalkeeper’s right knee struck the striker’s upper body and face with extreme violence. Owono received a direct red card.
Jesús de Miguel collapsed unconscious. Shocked, players from both teams immediately called for emergency services. Given the severity of the situation, the match was definitively stopped at the 108th minute. The player was evacuated to Nuestra Señora de Candelaria University Hospital.
Victim of a cardiorespiratory arrest on the pitch, de Miguel was revived in the ambulance thanks to cardiopulmonary resuscitation performed by the medical team. Placed on respiratory support in intensive care in a condition deemed stable but extremely serious, his neurological assessment deteriorated sharply during the night. He passed away in the early morning at 8 a.m.
At 9:31 a.m., CD Tenerife announced the news in a statement: “Torn apart by pain, our hearts heavy and unable to believe this is true, CD Tenerife communicates the tragic death of Jesús de Miguel Alameda. There are no words of consolation; there is absolutely nothing that can ease this feeling filled with sadness.”
Arrived at Tenerife in July 2025, Jesús de Miguel had played a central role in the club’s promotion from the third to the second division last spring. The Canary Islands club and the player’s family have requested the utmost respect for their privacy during this ordeal.
