Everton and Ipswich offer Gabriel Jesus a Premier League lifeline as Arsenal weigh exit
Arsenal have received enquiries from Everton and Ipswich for Gabriel Jesus, with the Brazilian keen to remain in England. The 29-year-old has one year left on his contract and scored just 32 goals in 123 appearances since his £45m move from Manchester City in 2022.
Arsenal have fielded enquiries from Everton and Ipswich Town for Gabriel Jesus, with both Premier League clubs registering interest in the Brazilian striker before September’s transfer deadline, according to Spanish outlet AS.
Jesus, 29, had previously been linked with a move to Napoli, but negotiations with the Serie A club stalled. The forward is understood to be keen on staying in England, where he harbours an ambition to become the highest-scoring Brazilian in Premier League history — a target that would require him to play regularly.
The former Manchester City striker joined Arsenal in a £45m deal in 2022 but has managed just 32 goals in 123 appearances. With only one year remaining on his contract at the Emirates Stadium, the club appear open to listening to offers.
Manager Mikel Arteta addressed Jesus’s situation alongside that of Gabriel Martinelli — both players were omitted from Arsenal’s Community Shield squad for the win over Manchester City. Arteta was careful not to close the door on either. “Yes, they are all very important for us,” he said, adding that he had been pushing the Premier League to allow larger squads. “They deserve to be in the squad, there is no question.”
Arsenal CEO Richard Garlick also commented on the broader picture of potential departures, specifically addressing speculation around academy graduates Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri. “We are not actively looking at selling those homegrown players,” Garlick said, “but if the right opportunity came up — right for them and the club — we’d obviously consider that.”
On the incoming side, Arsenal have moved decisively this summer. Bruno Guimaraes and Christos Tzolis have already been signed, while Piero Hincapie and goalkeeper Illan Meslier have penned permanent deals. Arteta’s side are also reported to be close to agreeing a deal for Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa, and a late move for Atletico Madrid’s Julian Alvarez has not been ruled out.
