Cadillac and Tommy Hilfiger launch five-piece denim collection for Austin Grand Prix
Cadillac's Formula 1 team and apparel partner Tommy Hilfiger have unveiled a Texas-themed, five-piece denim collection timed to the United States Grand Prix in Austin, the third city-specific drop in an ongoing series that also included Miami and Mexico releases.
Cadillac’s Formula 1 team and its official apparel partner Tommy Hilfiger have released a Texas-themed clothing line ahead of the United States Grand Prix in Austin, the third instalment in a city-by-city collection series that has already produced Miami and Mexico drops.
The Tommy Hilfiger x Cadillac Formula 1 Team Austin collection went on sale earlier this week and centres on five denim-led pieces featuring chrome detailing and a chevron-shaped American flag rendered in Tommy Hilfiger’s signature red, white and blue.
The range includes a light-wash denim trucker jacket for men, a silver foil-coated denim vest for women, a T-shirt, a tank top and a denim cap. Driver Valtteri Bottas fronts the campaign imagery, photographed at sunset tipping a cowboy hat with the chevron flag design across his back.
Lee Holman, Tommy Hilfiger’s chief design officer, said the team used two wardrobe staples as its starting point. “We started with icons of the Tommy wardrobe — the denim jacket and the white T-shirt — and looked at how we could rework them inspired by the character of Austin,” Holman said. “It’s about taking familiar pieces and giving them a fresh point of view, while staying grounded in our classic American cool DNA.”
Cassidy Towriss, chief brand adviser for the Cadillac Formula 1 Team, framed the Austin race as a natural home for the collaboration. “Austin gives us a chance to have a little more fun with our American roots,” Towriss said. “It’s fanwear made for race weekend, but designed to live well beyond the paddock.”
Tommy Hilfiger also serves as the global menswear ambassador brand for Cadillac driver Sergio Perez, Bottas’s team-mate. The Austin race is Cadillac’s second home event of the season following the Miami Grand Prix in May. Perez, speaking after the Singapore round, acknowledged the team still has ground to make up on its rivals. “We are still lacking around one to one-and-a-half seconds to be able to compete with the cars ahead, and I think what we really need now is a stronger car underneath us,” he said.
A Las Vegas-themed collection is also planned for November, continuing the city series format the two brands have built around the North American calendar.
