Hamilton and Leclerc hijack Ferrari's social media in chaotic Singapore GP stunt
Ferrari has released behind-the-scenes footage of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc taking over the team's social media accounts during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend. Given a 20-minute free run, the pair produced extreme selfies, scooter rides, and interrupted meetings before Ferrari issued a mock "unauthorised access" statement.
Ferrari has released behind-the-scenes footage of Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc seizing control of the team’s social media accounts during the Singapore Grand Prix weekend, with the two drivers given a 20-minute window to do whatever they pleased with the channels.
The results were, by Ferrari’s own admission, chaotic. Hamilton opened by confessing he had lost touch with the basics of posting, telling Leclerc: “I haven’t posted my own content for so long I actually don’t even know how to use the app.” The Monégasque driver wasted no time taking charge, directing the seven-time world champion to pose for an extreme close-up selfie that was promptly set as the team’s new profile picture.
From there the takeover escalated quickly. Hamilton offered a brief tour of the Ferrari hospitality unit, Leclerc borrowed his team-mate’s scooter, the pair separately barged into ongoing meetings, and both drivers eventually went live on the accounts — all without passing through the team’s standard content approval process.
Ferrari later leaned into the chaos with a tongue-in-cheek “unofficial statement” framed as a security incident report. “Scuderia Ferrari HP confirms that, over the past two hours, two individuals within the organisation gained unauthorised control of our social media channels,” the team wrote. “During this period, a series of highly questionable editorial decisions were made, including changes to our profile picture and the publication of content that did not undergo our standard approval procedures. We can confirm that the two suspects have been identified and the situation has now been contained.”
The behind-the-scenes footage of the stunt had already surpassed 40,000 views at the time of writing, with fans responding warmly to the dynamic between Hamilton and Leclerc in their first season as team-mates. “I love you two together — I thought it was going to be hard to replace the Charlie/Chilli combo on both socials and the track, but I was wrong,” one viewer commented.
