Arsenal have agreed a €20million (£17.1m) deal to sell Leandro Trossard to Besiktas, a move that effectively signals the club’s intent to pursue a high-profile left-sided attacker this summer. The Belgian winger, who joined Arsenal in January 2023, is not expected to finalise his departure until after the World Cup, with personal terms still being negotiated.

Trossard leaves having played a meaningful role in Arsenal’s first Premier League title since 2004, contributing six goals and six assists across 31 appearances in the 2025-26 campaign — including the decisive winner against West Ham in May. Despite becoming a popular figure at the club, his exit was considered a necessary step to fund a significant upgrade in the position.

Arsenal’s hierarchy are determined to build on a landmark season in which Mikel Arteta guided the club to the Premier League title and the Champions League final, where they were beaten on penalties by Paris Saint-Germain in Budapest. Strengthening the left attacking berth is central to those plans.

The two primary targets are Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and PSG’s Bradley Barcola. Villa are reported to be demanding a British record £130m for Rogers, who excelled throughout the 2025-26 season. Barcola is valued by PSG at a figure exceeding the £116m Manchester City paid Nottingham Forest for Elliot Anderson — a deal confirmed this week.

Liverpool are also monitoring Barcola, whose contract in Paris runs for two more years. Talks over an extension have stalled, which could influence how PSG approach any sale.

In a separate development, Arsenal appear set to miss out on Leicester City teenager Jeremy Monga, with Manchester City on the verge of completing a £12.5m move for the highly rated prospect.
