ASSE Sign Danish Midfielder Jakob Breum for €3m Ahead of Ligue 2 Campaign
Relegated to Ligue 2 after losing the playoff against Nice, Saint-Étienne have strengthened their midfield with Jakob Breum, a 22-year-old midfielder from Go Ahead Eagles, signed until 2030 for just over €3 million.
Saint-Étienne have officially confirmed the signing of Jakob Breum, a 22-year-old Danish midfielder from Go Ahead Eagles (Eredivisie). The player has committed until 2030 for a transfer fee estimated at just over €3 million.
Breum is the Greens’ second summer signing, following the arrival of Algerian defender Sohaib Naïr from Guingamp. Saint-Étienne, who narrowly missed out in the playoff against Nice a few weeks ago, begin a new Ligue 2 season with the objective of securing promotion to Ligue 1.
A Danish U21 international, Breum made 105 appearances for the Deventer club, scoring 20 goals and providing 17 assists. He also won the Dutch Cup with Go Ahead Eagles over the past three seasons.
« Jakob matches the profile we were looking for to strengthen our attacking sector. Specifically: a player capable of making a difference in the final third and being decisive. The technical qualities in passing and ball handling he has shown over his past three seasons align with Ian Cathrose’s ideas on how we want to play, » said Loïc Perrin, ASSE sporting director.
