Yan Diomandé declares his love for PSG despite Liverpool's interest
Ivorian winger Yan Diomandé, 19, from RB Leipzig has publicly expressed his desire to join Paris Saint-Germain, identified as a priority target for the European champions, on the sidelines of the France-Côte d'Ivoire friendly match.
Yan Diomandé has openly displayed his preference for Paris Saint-Germain. On the sidelines of the France-Côte d’Ivoire friendly match played on Thursday, the Ivorian winger from RB Leipzig declared to Téléfoot that he wants to join the Parisian club, identified as one of his priority options in this summer’s transfer window.
“Paris Saint-Germain is a team I’ve loved since I was young,” the 19-year-old player confided. “My father is a Paris Saint-Germain supporter, it’s a team I admire as a football fan.” Before going further: “It would be a pleasure for me to come and play here with one of the greatest clubs. It’s always a pleasure to come here because already, with French, I think adaptation won’t be difficult. But why not.”
These statements come as Liverpool is also in the running, seeking a successor to Mohamed Salah. Despite this English interest, the Diomandé file appears to be one of the most accessible for PSG, European champions for the second consecutive time. The other priority attacking option, Atlético Madrid’s Julián Alvarez, appears compromised in contrast, with FC Barcelona having gained significant ground.
Author of 13 goals and 10 assists in 36 matches this season with Leipzig, Diomandé would see himself playing alongside Ousmane Dembélé, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia or Désiré Doué. PSG, for its part, will have to convince the German club to release one of its most prominent players, with Luis Campos and Luis Enrique having work to do this summer to strengthen Luis Enrique’s squad.
