Dominik Szoboszlai has signed a new five-year contract with Liverpool, securing the Hungary captain’s future at Anfield until he turns 30.

The midfielder had entered the last two years of his previous deal, prompting months of talks between his camp and the club. Discussions accelerated in recent weeks, with Liverpool always confident Szoboszlai wanted to stay.

The new contract is a reward for a standout campaign in which Szoboszlai scored 13 goals and registered 12 assists while operating across a variety of positions. His contribution was central to Liverpool’s Premier League title win in 2024-25, and the club believe his best years are still to come.

Szoboszlai joined Liverpool from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2023 for £60m and has established himself as one of the most versatile and dynamic midfielders in the division. The renewal represents a significant boost for new head coach Andoni Iraola as he prepares for his first full season in charge.

Liverpool have been active in the transfer market this summer alongside the contract extension. Winger Victor Munoz has arrived at the club, while defender Jeremy Jacquet — whose purchase from Rennes was arranged in January — has also joined up with Iraola’s squad.
