West Ham set £45m Summerville price tag as Man Utd lead chase after World Cup goal
West Ham have told suitors they will not accept a cut-price deal for Crysencio Summerville, valuing the winger at around £45m. Manchester United are now leading the pursuit after Tottenham and PSG also registered interest.
West Ham have drawn a firm line under any bargain bids for Crysencio Summerville, insisting they will not be rushed into selling the Dutch winger despite their relegation to the Championship. The club are holding out for around £45m and are prepared to wait until after the World Cup before entering serious negotiations.
Summerville’s market value has surged following a strong end to the club season and, most recently, a goal on his Netherlands World Cup debut in a 2-2 draw with Japan in Dallas on Sunday. Manchester United are now understood to be the frontrunners for his signature, with Real Madrid also monitoring the situation. Should Madrid not make a formal move, United are considered best-placed to agree a deal.
Tottenham had explored a move for the former Leeds United winger as far back as January, and PSG — fresh from winning the Champions League — are among the clubs hoping West Ham’s relegation forces a discount. West Ham sources have pushed back firmly on that notion, stating the club have no obligation to sell cheaply.
New majority shareholder Daniel Kretinsky has publicly backed that stance, claiming the club do not need to offload their most valuable assets. There is even a possibility that captain Jarrod Bowen could remain at the club and play Championship football next season, though both Summerville and fellow United target Mateus Fernandes are widely expected to depart. Both players have seen their wages reduced via relegation clauses in their contracts.
Fernandes, a Portuguese midfielder, carries a significantly higher price tag of around £80m, with Real Madrid and Arsenal among those tracking him. Arsenal have cooled their interest in recent weeks and are no longer considered active pursuers, leaving United as the primary English club in contention — provided Madrid do not accelerate their interest.
Tottenham, meanwhile, are pursuing a wide forward of their own and are in ongoing informal talks with Manchester City over a deal for Savinho as Roberto De Zerbi looks to reshape his squad. Liverpool, who scouted Summerville in 2024, remain a peripheral presence in the market for a left-sided forward but have yet to make a concrete approach.
United also have alternatives under consideration, with Iliman Ndiaye and Morgan Rogers among the names on their shortlist, according to reports.
