United urged to hijack Liverpool's £112m Diomande pursuit as Rashford attracts Bayern Munich interest
Manchester United have been urged to disrupt Liverpool's reported £112m move for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande, while Marcus Rashford is attracting interest from Bayern Munich after his Barcelona loan ended without a permanent deal being triggered.
Manchester United are facing a crowded summer transfer window as they prepare for a return to Champions League football, with a potential £112m hijack of Liverpool’s pursuit of Yan Diomande and fresh speculation surrounding Marcus Rashford’s future dominating the agenda at Old Trafford.
United urged to pursue Diomande
RB Leipzig and Ivory Coast winger Yan Diomande has emerged as one of the standout performers at World Cup 2026, and Liverpool are reportedly willing to pay £86m to sign the 19-year-old this summer. Leipzig, however, are holding out for a fee exceeding £100m.
Former United striker Louis Saha has called on his old club to enter the race and prise Diomande away from their rivals. “Man Utd should hijack Liverpool’s interest in Yan Diomande, definitely,” Saha said. “This type of winger now dominates football. When you have that confidence and simplicity in your game — to dribble, pass, be physical, and be courageous — I love that.”
Saha was effusive in his praise for the teenager, drawing a bold comparison. “I think he can be a superstar like Lamine Yamal,” he added. “It was not easy starting in the US and now being a superstar. I am pleased to see that kind of career.”
United, who finished third in the Premier League under Michael Carrick and are back in the Champions League next season, are expected to invest significantly in their squad. Goalkeeper Ederson is reported to be the club’s first signing of the window, while the departure of Casemiro means at least one midfield replacement is also required.
Rashford attracting Bayern Munich attention
Marcus Rashford’s future remains unresolved after his loan spell at Barcelona concluded without the club triggering their £26m purchase option. The 28-year-old, who scored for England against Croatia in their World Cup opener, is now the subject of interest from multiple clubs.
A second temporary move to Catalonia has been floated, but German publication Bild reports that Bayern Munich have made contact with Rashford’s representatives. Bayern’s interest follows their failed attempt to sign Anthony Gordon, who has since completed a move to Barcelona. Salary demands are understood to be a complicating factor in any potential deal.
