Manchester United are moving closer to signing Atalanta midfielder Ederson in a deal understood to be worth around £38 million, as the club turns its full attention to the summer transfer window following the conclusion of their season.

The Brazilian has emerged as a priority target for United, with reports suggesting a move to Manchester is gathering momentum. At 24, Ederson has established himself as one of Serie A’s most dynamic central midfielders and would represent a significant addition to the squad being assembled under manager Michael Carrick at Old Trafford.

Newcastle United’s Sandro Tonali continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford, and a fresh update has surfaced regarding the Italy international’s position on his future. The midfielder, who returned to Newcastle following a 10-month ban for betting offences, has been identified as a potential target as United look to strengthen the engine room of their midfield.

Marcus Rashford’s situation remains unresolved as his loan spell at Barcelona approaches its end. It is still unclear whether the England forward will return to United this summer or whether a permanent or extended arrangement with the Spanish club could be negotiated. Rashford joined Barcelona on loan earlier in the season after falling out of favour at Old Trafford, and his long-term future at the club remains uncertain.

United have also been linked with West Ham winger Jarrod Bowen and Newcastle midfielder Elliot Anderson as Carrick’s backroom staff continues to assess options across multiple positions ahead of pre-season.
