Doué opens scoring in 13th minute and delivers double strike for PSG at City
Désiré Doué scored the opening goal and provided an assist for Dembélé within two minutes, allowing PSG to lead 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium just fifteen minutes into their Champions League match.
Désiré Doué was the architect of a thunderous start for PSG against Manchester City on Wednesday evening in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium. Within two minutes, the Paris winger scored and then set up a goal, putting his team in a commanding position just fifteen minutes into the match.
It all started with a collective transition initiated from PSG’s half. Fabian Ruiz switched play towards Doué, who provoked defender Abdukodir Khusanov at the edge of the box before unleashing a low cross-shot with his right foot. The strike caught Gianluigi Donnarumma off guard to open the scoring in the 13th minute.
Two minutes later, the former Rennes player turned provider. His lofted cross found Ousmane Dembélé, who finished from close range to double the lead in the 15th minute, leaving the Italian goalkeeper of City without an answer once again.
This explosive start illustrates PSG’s ability to hurt opponents on the counter-attack, with Doué as the key piece of a collective system that caught Manchester City off guard from the opening minutes of the match.
