Vinicius suspended four matches and will miss Clasico against Barcelona
The Spanish Football Federation has sanctioned Vinicius Jr with a four-match suspension following his red card against Villarreal (1-0) on Saturday in La Liga. The Real Madrid winger will notably miss the Clasico on October 25 against FC Barcelona.
The Spanish Football Federation has handed Vinicius Jr a four-match suspension on Wednesday, depriving Real Madrid of its Brazilian winger for the Clasico against FC Barcelona scheduled for October 25.
The Brazilian international was sent off during Madrid’s victory against Villarreal (1-0) last Saturday in La Liga, after pulling Nathan Saliba’s hair and then vigorously contesting the referee’s decision.
The sanction is split into two distinct parts. Two matches were given for “violent conduct outside play, inability to contest the ball or play stopped”, accompanied by additional fines. Two further matches are added for “protests against the referee, main, assistant or fourth official”.
Concretely, Vinicius will be absent for the home match against Seville on October 18, the Clasico against Barça on October 25, the away trip to Racing Santander on November 1 and the home match against Valencia on November 7. A significant absence for Real Madrid, which will have to do without one of its most decisive players during one of the most anticipated fixtures of the La Liga season.
