Virage Nord closure for two matches: OM sanctioned after PSG derby
The LFP disciplinary commission has condemned Olympique de Marseille to close its North stand during its next two home matches, due to the behavior of its supporters during the reception of PSG on September 20.
The disciplinary commission handed down a two-match closure of the Vélodrome’s North stand to Olympique de Marseille on Wednesday, one of which is a revocation of a suspended sentence. The sanction follows the behavior of Marseille supporters during the Classique against PSG on September 20, which ended in a 1-2 home defeat.
The commission found two violations: the use of pyrotechnic devices and oral expressions observed during the match. As a direct consequence, the Virage Nord will be closed during OM’s next two home matches in Ligue 1: the reception of Le Havre on October 25, then that of Toulouse on November 1.
This decision comes at a particularly delicate moment for the Phocaean club. Under the orders of Bruno Genesio, OM is going through a difficult season, marked by disappointing results and limited resources. Depriving the stadium of some of its most fervent subscribers in this context further weakens the club’s environment, which was counting on the support of its fans to revive its momentum.
