Mbappé answers Roma with a 20-metre strike and confirms in the Champions League
Silent in his last two Liga matches, Kylian Mbappé scored his second Champions League goal this season Wednesday night against Roma, responding to Marten De Roon's opening goal.
Kylian Mbappé found the net again in the Champions League on Wednesday night, during the second matchday of the league phase, against Roma at the Olimpico.
The French striker had to wait for the Giallorossi to open the scoring. It was Marten De Roon who gave Roma the advantage in the 20th minute before Mbappé replied with a 20-metre strike, slightly deflected, to level the match.
The France captain thus adds a second Champions League goal this season, following the one he scored against Inter last month in the first matchday. A welcome return to form for the player developed at Bondy, who had failed to score in his last two Liga outings and had been withdrawn early through injury during the last international break.
While Mbappé confirms his importance within the squad coached by José Mourinho, the match nevertheless highlighted the limitations of team cohesion against an organized Roma under the orders of Gian Piero Gasperini.
