Kade Ruotolo will step into the toughest MMA assignment of his career on December 18, when the unbeaten BJJ champion meets former ONE lightweight titleholder Ok Rae Yoon at ONE Fight Night 50 in Bangkok, Thailand. MMA Fighting confirmed the matchup with the promotion.

Ruotolo, 23, holds the ONE submission grappling championship but has increasingly shifted his focus toward MMA, building a perfect 4-0 record with a 100 percent finishing rate across his bouts in Asia. His most recent performance — a second-round knockout of Hiroyuki Tetsuka — followed three submission victories in his earlier appearances, underlining the range of his finishing ability.

Yoon brings a far more seasoned résumé to the contest. The South Korean veteran carries 17 wins from 24 professional MMA bouts and owns notable scalps in Eddie Alvarez and Christian Lee, the latter victory delivering him the ONE lightweight title in 2021. That pedigree makes him comfortably the most credentialed opponent Ruotolo has faced in MMA.

However, Yoon enters the fight seeking to arrest a run of poor form. Back-to-back decision losses to Alibeg Rasulov and Lucas Gabriel have dimmed some of his lustre, and he will need a convincing performance to re-establish himself as a title contender.

For Ruotolo, the matchup represents a genuine step up in class — a chance to prove that his grappling-driven finishing game can translate against an experienced, former world champion. A win would almost certainly thrust him into the lightweight title conversation in ONE Championship.
