Pimblett accuses Evloev of quitting in Volkanovski's UFC 333 TKO finish
Paddy Pimblett has claimed Movsar Evloev quit during Alexander Volkanovski's second-round TKO at UFC 333 in Abu Dhabi, arguing Evloev could have survived the round by staying mobile instead of covering up in the closing seconds.
Paddy Pimblett has publicly accused Movsar Evloev of giving up during his UFC featherweight title loss to Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 333 on Saturday in Abu Dhabi, where Volkanovski stopped Evloev by TKO at 4:54 of Round 2.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Pimblett — known as “The Baddy” — argued that Evloev had enough time to survive the round but chose to cover up rather than keep moving in the final seconds.
“Evloev quit there for me, like. Just rolled over,” Pimblett said. “When there’s five seconds left, you just gotta keep moving so the fight stays on. You can’t start just covering up.”
The loss was the first of Evloev’s professional career, dropping him to 20-1. The Russian featherweight had built an impressive run heading into the title shot, defeating Lerone Murphy, Aljamain Sterling, Arnold Allen, and Diego Lopes in succession before facing Volkanovski.
Volkanovski, now 29-4, retained the UFC featherweight championship with the finish and has since expressed interest in returning to action following the successful defence.
Pimblett’s comments are likely to draw a response given Evloev’s standing in the division, though no reply from the challenger’s camp had been reported at the time of publication.
