Tottenham target Savinho in £50m move as De Zerbi launches sweeping summer rebuild
Tottenham are closing in on Manchester City winger Savinho as Roberto De Zerbi accelerates a major squad overhaul. The club have already signed Andy Robertson on a free and agreed a deal in principle for Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi.
Tottenham are pushing to sign Manchester City winger Savinho in a deal that would cost around £50m, as manager Roberto De Zerbi moves quickly to reshape a squad that only avoided relegation on the final day of last season.
Savinho, 22, was a target for Spurs last summer but City blocked the move and the Brazilian elected to stay and compete for his place. With City now pursuing their own rebuild, the winger is ready to seek a new challenge in north London and is expected to push for the transfer to be completed.
The move for the Brazilian international follows Tottenham’s confirmation of Andy Robertson’s arrival on a free transfer after the left-back departed Liverpool. De Zerbi was effusive about the signing, saying: “Andy is someone I’ve admired for a number of years and he will bring outstanding technical qualities, experience, leadership and mentality to our team. He is a proven winner at the highest level over a long period and is someone who can be a big player for us, both on and off the pitch.”
Spurs have also agreed a deal in principle for Bournemouth’s Argentina centre-back Marcos Senesi, adding defensive reinforcement to their summer haul. A separate approach for Brighton’s Jan Paul van Hecke has so far been rebuffed — the Seagulls value the defender at £70m — though talks between the clubs are continuing.
Departures are also expected to shape the window. Cristian Romero is considered a likely exit, while there is reported strong interest in forward Mathys Tel.
The flurry of activity reflects a promise made by the Tottenham hierarchy to supporters following a turbulent campaign. In a message to fans, the club pledged a “full reset” and committed to investing “across multiple transfer windows to rebuild, balance and strengthen, with this summer representing an important first step in that work.”
