Tottenham Hotspur are pursuing two Liverpool players ahead of Andoni Iraola’s first season at Anfield, with Cody Gakpo emerging as a transfer target after Andy Robertson’s departure from the club was confirmed at the end of the 2025/26 campaign.

Robertson ended a nine-year spell with Liverpool after the season concluded, and according to a report from TEAMtalk, the Scot could soon be joined in North London by Gakpo, who is currently representing the Netherlands at the 2026 World Cup. Gakpo has registered three goal involvements in the tournament so far.

Spurs, who narrowly avoided relegation last season, are in active discussions with Liverpool over the Dutch forward’s future. The move comes after Tottenham’s long-running interest in Manchester City winger Savinho reportedly cooled, with the club now weighing up Gakpo as an alternative.

At Liverpool, the picture has shifted considerably. Iraola personally pushed for the signing of young Spanish forward Victor Munoz, a La Liga talent who operates on the left flank — the same position Gakpo occupies. That development has left Gakpo uncertain about whether he would be a starter or a rotation option under the new Basque manager.

The departure of Mohamed Salah adds further complexity. Gakpo’s best form at Liverpool coincided with Salah’s presence on the opposite flank, and his output dropped noticeably during a difficult 2025/26 season under Arne Slot. However, his performances at the World Cup have renewed interest from clubs monitoring players who struggled domestically last term.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are looking to rebuild after Slot’s difficult second season, with Iraola tasked with restoring the club’s Premier League-winning standards from 2024/25. Whether Gakpo fits into those plans remains unresolved, but Tottenham’s interest is concrete and growing.
