Tottenham close in on Savinho as Robertson and Senesi set for free transfers
Spurs are expected to sign Marcos Senesi and Andy Robertson on free transfers as their contracts expire next month, while Roberto De Zerbi's side are also reviving their pursuit of Manchester City winger Savinho, valued at £60 million.
Tottenham are moving quickly in the summer transfer window, with Roberto De Zerbi’s side expected to complete free transfers for Bournemouth defender Marcos Senesi and Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson, whose contracts expire next month. The north London club secured their Premier League survival with a 1-0 win over Everton before turning attention to a significant squad overhaul.
The anticipated double arrival follows De Zerbi’s candid assessment after the Everton match, in which he called for sweeping changes to the squad. “From tonight, we have to start to organise and to build a new team,” the Italian said. “I think we have now to change too many players. We have 10, 11, 12 players good enough to stay. Good enough. Like players. Especially like people. And then we have to complete the squad with the first level of players.”
De Zerbi did not shy away from the gravity of a season that saw Spurs flirt with relegation until the final day. “I suffered a lot, but I think the fans, the club, the board, the players, they suffered too much. We are Tottenham, and we can’t suffer like this until the last second of the last game to stay up.”
Beyond defensive reinforcements, Tottenham are also reported to be reviving their interest in Manchester City winger Savinho. City have placed a £60 million valuation on the 22-year-old Brazilian — double the fee they paid Girona when signing him in 2024 — according to the Daily Mail. Spurs made multiple approaches for the player last summer, but Pep Guardiola blocked a departure after failing to secure a replacement.
Savinho managed just one league goal in 24 appearances for City this season, but his pace and ability to beat defenders attracted consistent attention. Capable of operating on either flank, he would give De Zerbi greater flexibility in attack at a time when Spurs’ forward line badly underperformed. Richarlison, Mathys Tel, Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani combined for just 18 league goals, while injuries to Dejan Kulusevski and Mohammed Kudus further depleted the club’s wide options across the campaign.
The reported pursuit of Savinho signals that De Zerbi and the Spurs board are targeting genuine quality in the final third, rather than simply patching over the squad’s existing weaknesses.
