Topuria cleared to return after UFC White House stoppage loss to Gaethje

Ilia Topuria confirmed on social media that he has been medically cleared to return to competition after suffering a fourth-round TKO loss to Justin Gaethje at the UFC White House event, a defeat that saw his corner stop the fight to prevent further damage.

“Final medical tests done. I’m back,” Topuria wrote on Twitter. “To all the clowns who’ve been talking shit and counting me out this whole time, here I am. Now let’s see who’s got the balls.”

The announcement ends days of speculation over the severity of Topuria’s injuries. Reports had indicated he sustained several significant injuries during the contest, which contributed to his team’s decision to pull him out after four rounds rather than send him out for the fifth.

Alongside the medical update, Topuria made a pointed allegation against Gaethje, claiming there was something irregular about his opponent’s gloves. “Next time I’ll make sure they check Justin’s gloves so he doesn’t put anything weird on them,” he wrote. It is the first time Topuria has publicly raised the claim. Gaethje’s team has not yet responded.

Topuria closed his statement with direct messages aimed at Gaethje and manager Ali Abdelaziz, leaving little ambiguity about the animosity that remains between the camps following the fight.

As for what comes next, a rematch with Gaethje is one logical route given the commercial success of the first bout. A showdown with Paddy Pimblett, with whom Topuria has maintained a heated public rivalry, is another option being discussed. Topuria’s primary stated goal, however, is to reclaim the lightweight title he lost on the night.
