Teixeira predicts Pereira would knock out Hokit in round one after boxing win

Glover Teixeira has predicted Alex Pereira would knock out Josh Hokit in the first round, lending his voice to a rivalry that has been building since Hokit’s crude remarks at the UFC Freedom 250 pre-fight press conference.

Teixeira made the comments just hours after defeating Mauricio “Shogun” Rua by unanimous decision over eight rounds at Spaten Fight Night 3 in Sao Paulo — and wasted little time turning his attention to Pereira’s next move in the UFC.

“Personally, I would love to see him against Hokit,” Teixeira told journalist Laerte Viana. “I think this guy speaks a lot of bullsh*t and I believe ‘Poatan’ would knock him out in the first round.”

Teixeira, a former UFC light heavyweight champion, also revealed that Pereira is currently training and waiting for his next assignment to be confirmed.

The tension between the Brazilian former two-division champion and the undefeated American escalated at UFC Freedom 250, where Hokit drew attention for inflammatory comments at the pre-fight presser. Hokit then doubled down by calling out Pereira directly in his post-fight interview after stopping Derrick Lewis at the White House event, branding himself “The Incredible Hok” in the process.

With Pereira reportedly in the gym and ready to go, and Hokit’s profile rising rapidly on the back of his Lewis finish, the matchup appears to be gaining genuine traction within UFC circles — even if no bout agreement has been announced.
