Summerville's World Cup form pushes price tag beyond £50m and alerts PSG
Crysencio Summerville has scored twice and added an assist in his first two World Cup appearances for the Netherlands, prompting West Ham to raise their asking price above £50m and attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain alongside Manchester United.
Crysencio Summerville’s electric start to the 2026 World Cup is complicating Manchester United’s pursuit of the West Ham forward, with the Dutchman’s rising stock threatening to push his price tag well beyond the £50m figure that had been circulating in recent weeks.
The 24-year-old came off the bench to score in the Netherlands’ 5-1 demolition of Sweden on Saturday, having already netted a fine goal in their earlier 2-2 draw with Japan. Two goals and an assist in two appearances have made him one of the tournament’s early standout performers — and West Ham are well aware of it.
With no buyout clause in Summerville’s contract at the London Stadium, the relegated Hammers are free to set their own price. Every impressive display strengthens their hand in negotiations, and United could now face a bidding war. Paris Saint-Germain have also been linked with the winger, with the French club expected to allow Bradley Barcola to depart and actively seeking a left-sided replacement.
Summerville has delivered both his World Cup contributions as a substitute, which adds an intriguing dimension to his standing in Ronald Koeman’s squad. After the Sweden victory, the Netherlands head coach hinted that Summerville could displace Donyell Malen in the starting XI as the tournament progresses.
“I think Summerville is stronger defensively,” Koeman said. “We talk a lot with the players about recognising tactical changes on the pitch quicker. I understand that the substitution is difficult for Donyell, but this is top-level football. Team performances are what matter. Before the match, I sat down with him and explained why he would play on the right and that he would have the freedom to cut inside because he is not a natural right winger.”
The Netherlands face Group F’s bottom side Tunisia next, a match in which Summerville could push his case for a starting berth. Tunisia have conceded nine goals in their opening two fixtures, losing 5-1 to Sweden and 4-0 to Japan.
Summerville’s Premier League record at West Ham last season — five goals and four assists in 31 appearances — had already attracted United’s attention as they search for a left-winger. His World Cup performances have only widened the audience for his services, and with no release clause to anchor the fee, West Ham hold all the leverage.
