Lucas Stassin marked a promising first goal in a Sevilla FC shirt, but the Sevillans ultimately drew 1-1 with Espanyol on Sunday in Barcelona, after Marcos Fernandez Sanchez equalized in the 90th+8.

Loaned from AS Saint-Étienne with a purchase option since September 1st, the Belgian international came off the bench in the 55th minute in a goalless match. Barely two minutes after his introduction, the task became harder for the visitors: Arouna Sangante received a straight red card (56th), leaving Sevilla down to ten men for the remainder of the match.

Sevilla then came close to disaster when an Espanyol goal was ruled out for Omar El-Hilali’s offside (62nd). Stassin seized the reprieve to make an impact: in the 85th minute, the former Saint-Étienne striker found the net to secure what seemed like victory for his team.

But Espanyol did not give up. Marcos Fernandez Sanchez equalized in the dying seconds of added time (90th+8), denying Sevilla three points that could have changed their league position.

After this fourth matchday of La Liga, Sevilla remain seventh, five points behind leaders Barcelona. Espanyol, eleventh, trail their opponents by three points.
