Ballon d'Or winner Kane announces imminent Bayern Munich contract extension
A week after winning the 2026 Ballon d'Or, Harry Kane confirmed at a press conference that his contract extension with Bayern Munich is now just a matter of days away.
A week after winning the 2026 Ballon d’Or in London, Harry Kane is preparing to make his Bayern Munich future official. At a press conference on the eve of the Bavarian club’s trip to Atlético Madrid for the fourth matchday of the Ligue des Champions league phase, the 33-year-old English striker announced that negotiations were nearing completion.
“I would say it’s just a matter of days now. We’ve had good discussions this weekend, and today as well. I know I keep saying we’re close to the finish line, but we’re now extremely close,” Kane said.
Currently tied to Bayern until the end of the season, the striker — who had finished ahead of Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal at the 70th edition of the ceremony — clarified that a few technical points still needed to be resolved: “Most of the important points have been settled, and we’re satisfied with them, but in any contract, there are a multitude of small things to take into account, as well as minor details that ultimately the lawyers have to sort out.”
Kane nonetheless expressed confidence about the outcome of the discussions. “Overall, I would say it’s a matter of days rather than weeks. The discussions went well again today, and I hope we’ll be able to reach an agreement in the coming days,” he concluded.
