Sporting Kansas City have emerged as a potential destination for Mohamed Salah after the club’s president of soccer operations, David Lee, refused to rule out a move for the Egyptian forward at a press conference this week.

Salah left Liverpool this summer after his contract expired, and while MLS clubs are reported to be frontrunners for his signature, no deal has yet been confirmed. When asked directly whether Sporting Kansas City were interested, Lee stopped short of a denial.

“I’m not going to share anything on individual players, whether those players are under contract or not,” Lee said. “We are interested in really good players. So anyone we think can be a fit for us and is going to fit what we would like to do, we have an interest in and would like to have a conversation with.”

Salah’s departure is one of several high-profile exits at Anfield this summer. Andy Robertson has joined Tottenham Hotspur following the expiry of his contract, while Ibrahima Konaté has moved to Real Madrid after his deal also wound down.

New Liverpool manager Andoni Iraola, who replaced Arne Slot after a disappointing Premier League title defence last season, has so far brought in two players ahead of a pre-season tour of the United States. Spanish winger Victor Munoz has arrived from Osasuna, and Jeremy Jacquet completed a £60 million move from Rennes that was agreed in January.

Elsewhere among Liverpool’s former players, Yasser Larouci has signed with newly promoted Ligue 1 side Le Mans. The wing-back joined Liverpool from Le Havre in 2017 and was part of the club’s 2019 FA Youth Cup-winning squad. He made his senior debut under Jürgen Klopp in an FA Cup win against Everton in 2020, coming off the bench for the injured James Milner, but left as a free agent in 2021 without establishing himself in the first team. After spells at Troyes — including loans to Sheffield United, Watford, and Greek club Kifisia — Larouci becomes Le Mans’ third summer signing.
