Sidelined at PSG, Lucas Chevalier attracts interest from Tottenham and Besiktas
Bought for €40 million from LOSC last summer, Lucas Chevalier has failed to establish himself at PSG and finds himself behind Matvey Safonov in the pecking order. Tottenham and Besiktas are positioning themselves to sign him.
Lucas Chevalier could leave Paris Saint-Germain as early as this summer, less than a year after his arrival. Recruited for 40 million euros from LOSC, the 24-year-old goalkeeper has failed to establish himself as a starter in the Paris goal, relegated behind Russian Matvey Safonov in the club’s hierarchy.
This situation has had direct consequences on his international career: shut out of the competition for the number one spot with the France national team, Chevalier now sees his place for the 2026 World Cup compromised. Under contract with PSG until 2030, his future at the club remains uncertain, but two suitors have already expressed their interest.
According to information from L’Équipe journalist Loïc Tanzi, Besiktas made contact in recent days. The Turkish club, fourth in the Süper Lig last season, is looking to recruit a renowned goalkeeper to replace Ersin Destanoglu. Tottenham is pursuing a similar approach and is also closely following the matter.
From the player’s perspective, the English option appears more appealing. According to the same newspaper, Chevalier would prefer “a project deemed more attractive” than the one proposed by the Istanbul club, which is steering discussions toward Spurs. PSG has not yet decided on the future of its goalkeeper, but sporting pressure and external interest could accelerate a decision.
