Shakira, Katy Perry and Michael Bublé headline three World Cup 2026 opening ceremonies across Mexico, Canada and the USA
The 2026 World Cup kicks off with three separate opening ceremonies across its three host nations. Shakira and Burna Boy headline in Mexico City on 11 June, Michael Bublé leads the show in Toronto on 12 June, and Katy Perry tops the bill in Los Angeles on 13 June.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will open with three distinct ceremonies across its three host nations, with Shakira, Michael Bublé and Katy Perry among the headline acts set to perform ahead of each country’s opening group-stage fixture.
All three productions are being orchestrated by Italian producer Marco Balich, who also oversaw the opening ceremony for the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
Mexico — 11 June, Estadio Azteca, Mexico City
Mexico gets proceedings underway at 6:30pm BST on Thursday 11 June at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The ceremony precedes the Group A clash between Mexico and South Africa — a repeat of the fixture that opened the 2010 World Cup in Johannesburg.
Shakira and Burna Boy are set to headline, performing the official tournament song Dai Dai. They are joined by Alejandro Fernández, Belinda, Danny Ocean, J Balvin, Lila Downs, Los Ángeles Azules, Maná, and Tyla.
Canada — 12 June, BMO Field, Toronto
Canada takes the spotlight the following evening, with its ceremony beginning at 6:30pm BST on Friday 13 June at BMO Field in Toronto, ahead of the host nation’s opener against Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Michael Bublé headlines in his home country, alongside fellow Canadians Alessia Cara and Alanis Morissette. Palestinian singer Elyanna and French artist Vegedream — best known for Ramenez la coupe à la maison, his anthem celebrating France’s 2018 World Cup triumph — are also on the bill, as are Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, Sanjoy and William Prince.
USA — 13 June, SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles
The third and final ceremony takes place at 12:30am BST on Saturday 14 June at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles — the newest venue in use at this summer’s tournament — ahead of the United States’ Group A match against Paraguay.
Katy Perry headlines in her home state, joined by rapper Future. Tyla makes a second appearance having already performed in Mexico City, while Thai-born K-pop star Lisa of Blackpink, Nigerian artist Rema and Brazilian singer Anitta complete the line-up.
